The goal of this intensive training is to focus specifically on the employability needs assessment.  A solid client needs assessment is critical on so many fronts.  It is the foundation of client-centred service and essential in ensuring that interventions hit the target and that the “revolving door” is avoided.  It is a vehicle for building client engagement and establishing a strong working alliance. This course will include opportunities for supervised practice, with peer and trainer feedback.  It will prepare participants to conduct the employability needs assessment consistently and comprehensively and to link identified client needs with their interventions and the client action planning process.

Learning Objectives:

  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with clients;
  • Conduct an employability needs assessment consistently and comprehensively using the Employability Dimensions and the Employment Service Delivery Model as their frameworks;
  • Link identified client needs with interventions and appropriate action planning in order to fully engage the client;
  • Be able to incorporate their personal approach to practice into the Employment Service Delivery Model, in order to achieve client objectives.

This training is competency-based and is grounded in the Canadian Standards and Guidelines for Career Development Practitioners.
