Disability Etiquette Training Presented by EMPOWER

Wednesday, September 20, 2017 - 14:00 - 16:00

NLHHN Provincial Learning Centre
77 charter Avenue, Pleasantville

Please join us on Wenesday, September 20th at the NLHHN Provincial Learning Centre in Pleasantville for our next professional development offering: A workshop on Disability Etiquette.

Understanding how to discuss disability, how to address those with disabilities, and how to interact with persons with disabilities is an important part of promoting equality and an inclusive environment. Our language and our behaviour strongly influences how we perceive and feel about things, even when we don’t realize it. It also tells others how we feel and think about a topic.

In this workshop, we will discuss the negative impacts of assumptions, disability awareness, independence/independent living, inclusion, language and terminology, slang, and how to navigate new and potentially awkward situations.

The workshop is free but requires registration.

Register Now!

The session will conclude at 4:00 pm

Thank you to the NLHHN and EMPOWER for their leadership in developing the workshop.
