Waypoints is a non-profit, charitable organization that helps children, youth and families improve their lives through a range of programs and services, including; providing training and supports to help youth improve employment readiness, find and keep work. In collaboration with our Employment and Outreach team, the Job Developer will play a vital role in the delivery of an employability skills program preparing youth for employment and becoming attached to the labour market.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist program staff in assessing and matching participant’s job skills in relation to opportunities available in the local labour market.
  • Prepare a communication plan for collaboration with employers.
  • Engages and initiates contact with employers with whom participants have identified as places they would like to seek employment.
  • Negotiate wage subsidy agreements with employers for a twenty (20) week wage subsidy component for 10 participants (ages 18-29) 

Qualifications | Requirements

  • Post-Secondary education in related field and/or combination of education and experience; business; sales; marketing
  • Experience in job development, job coaching, vocational selection and job search, personal and career management.
  • Knowledge of community and employment resources
  • Familiarity with the local labour market and business community
  • Previous experience and demonstrated success in working with employers preferably in the delivery of employment programs
  • Comfortable with cold calling on businesses to communicate the benefits of partnering in the project.
  • Experience in engaging youth and being a positive role model
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to vehicle
  • As this position involves working with youth, all candidates will be required to provide an acceptable Certificate of Conduct and agree to a Child Youth and Family Services Record Check.
