The “Youth Achieve” literacy program of Community Centre Alliance is poverty reduction initiative that aims to assist young people who want to stay on the path to high school graduation and further learning.

We are seeking a Literacy Tutor whose duties will include:

  • Developing and delivering individualized learning programs with young people
  • Complete pre and post reading and writing assessments
  • Creating a safe and respectful learning environment
  • Using the Barton Learning system and other teaching aids teach basic literacy skills to youth
  • Maintaining detailed records related to the project and each learners progress
  • Liaising as required with the Executive Director of CCA, schools and community partners

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Education or equivalent experience in literacy education and in administering reading and writing assessments. They will be open to a flexible schedule that includes afternoons, evenings and possibly some weekends. There will be unpaid breaks for two weeks each over Christmas and Easter holidays.

This position will be approximately 10 hours per week at the rate of $25/hr, part-time, contractual to end of May 2018.
