This position offers professional services to the Department on the development and implementation of a strategic Adult Literacy Plan for Newfoundland and Labrador and ongoing expertise for its literacy activities. During development of the plan, responsibilities will include: development of support materials and the organization of stakeholder consultations; facilitation of stakeholder consultation process; preparation of presentations to stakeholders and partners (within and outside government); research and analysis to facilitate the formation of policy and program recommendations to address provincial and regional adult literacy issues; preparing a draft of the Plan based on research and stakeholder input; ensuring the Plan has measurable outcomes and clearly defined indicators of success; and preparing cost estimates relating to the implementation of initiatives under the Plan. After the Plan's release, duties will include coordinating and monitoring the Plan's implementation and providing ongoing expertise and support to the Department's adult literacy activities and its community-based literacy grants program. The position will also represent the Department on committees and working groups concerned with literacy.
